Rescued: Jr's Mariah
Jr's Mariah is a Standardbred born in Auburn ME in 1997.
She was rescued by SOSS (Save our Standardbreds from Slaughter) from the Kill Pen in Peabody Kansas and donated to Hope in the Valley.
She was raised as a Harness Racing Pacer horse and won $2800 in her career.
Sadly, once her career ended, she was sold at auction to a horse trader.
We were unsure if she had ever been riden prior to her carriage horse career. Our training staff tested her out and found her to be a wonderful mount.
She enjoyed giving rides to kids at Riverfest and the Valley Center Fall Festival. Her quiet demeanor was perfect for an advanced beginner rider.
She is an amazingly gentle horse. She has been ridden by many supervised kids both by lead and independently for those who know how to ride.
She is a big girl at 1150 pounds, standing 15.3hh. She is maintained by both brome hay and a single meal of senior feed per day.
