The Transition To Hope
When donkeys, mules, or horses arrive they are evaluated for health and provided the best care possible from rehabilitation or medical treatment to regular farrier care and vaccinations. Equally important is giving them time to decompress and realize they are in a safe place. Transitioning equine not only include those new to Hope, but any who need time for rehabilitation, or recovery, or event the occasional mare who arrives pregnant or with a foal. The equine listed below are in transition and have not completed their final levels of evaluation to prepare them for their new lives.
The time between in-take, evaluations, and final preparations for adoption can take from weeks to months or in extreme cases more than a year. Please note the equine listed below are not currently available for adoption.

Candie is a sweetheart which is probably how she got her name! Candie is an older mare looking for a home and a friend to share a pasture with. She is quiet and would do best with a friend who also enjoys a quiet life. Currently she is best friends with Hope’s blind horse, Appy. They are never too far apart always checking in on each other. Candie is a loyal friend.

Diamond is a handsome sorrel and attached to Lady. They are a bonded pair and will some day be looking for a retirement home together. Diamond is also a talker and does whinny for his breakfast. He is a sweet and gentle older gelding.

Lady is every bit a lady. Such a sweet, gentle, older mare who enjoys the simple things in life. Her favorites seem to be attention combined with a little gentle grooming. She is a talker and will whinny for her breakfast. The only thing in her future is a nice retirement home with her buddy Diamond. They are a bonded pair.

Solita is a stunning mare and beautiful to watch moving across the pasture. She is also a sweetheart who enjoys attention in the form of soft conversations and a good brushing. Solita is a 20 year old registered quarter horse and her best friend is the big guy Sully.

Afraid of the world and found in horrid conditions, Sunshine arrived at Hope with eight motherless foals. Once untouchable, Sunshine has come a long way with the help of her best friend who spends hours with her on a daily basis. It has been a gradual process but Sunshine will now accept scratches, treats, light grooming, and even a halter with short walks on a lead. She has a long way to go but she is on the right path.
