Meet Our Available Pasture Companions
Horses listed in our companion category are truly special heroes. These horses have worked hard throughout their lives and deserve a safe and secure retirement. Sadly, when horses can no longer be ridden, they are often viewed as less desirable. At Hope, we are working hard to change this perception by giving these horses the skills and interactions they need to become companions to both human and equine counterparts.
Annie Oakley

“Annie O” is still a bit shy but once she trusts you she is a loyal companion and always the first to engage when you come into the pasture. She is nervous when she is away from Big Red, we suspect they have been together all of their lives. She is a beautiful girl inside and out.

Appy is a very special girl. She’s only 12 and she has her challenges but she reminds us how resilient horses are. Without sight and under management for Cushings disease (a manageable thyroid condition) she astounds you with her tenacity and ability to bring joy to all who meet her. A tilt of her beautiful head will have your heart. She is bonded to her partner Lil Hack and her gentle demeanor is unmatched.

Butterscotch is no longer ridable due to arthritic knees which are easily managed with a daily supplement.

They are available together for adoption as family pets.

Hickory is a unique beauty with a handsome foal, Jacoby. Coming to Hope pregnant, she was give time to settle in, give birth, and care for her foal. She now lives among the largest of the Hope herd with her best friend Lovey. These ladies bonded over the birthing of their foals only weeks apart. This new lease on life for Hickory has allowed her personality to shine through. She is social and vocal, giving an endearing soft nicker ever morning while awaiting her breakfast.

Coming from an unpleasant situation where she was somehow separated from her foal only to learn that she had been immediately bred back and was actually pregnant when she arrived leading us to believe she has been a broodmare. After birthing our big, handsome boy Jazz, Lovey too has been given time to come into her own. She enjoys being a part of the larger Hope herd, simply being a horse and hanging out with her best friend Hickory. Lovey is social and absolutely stunning!

Sweet, demanding, and beautiful describes our little Maggie. After two years standing alone in a pasture, “Maggs” has found Hope. From the moment she stepped off the trailer her demeanor began to change, so excited about having a herd to belong to again.
